Tap Kix was established in 2013 by Professional dancer, Dance Educator and Bom Funk Dance Studio owner, Kym Degenhart. It consists of professional & semi-professional dancers who share a common interest; a passion for Tap! They serve Canberra & Queanbeyan as a specialist performance crew engaging audiences with their entertaining tap routines, strong rhythm & funky, ‘street feet’ beats. Tap Kix is the only Pro/Am Tap specialist crew performing currently in the ACT & Queanbeyan region. In 2021, Tap Kix joined Kix Arts Productions - a local professional commercial dance company providing professional cabaret & commercial shows and performances for functions, events and venues.
Tap Kix has performed at a number of high profile events including Art, Not Apart, Hurley Burly Winter Fest, Floriade as roaming and stage artists, Canberra Fair, Amour at The Abbey (produced by Copperlive), Luscious at Lucky’s Speakeasy and 104.7’s 30th Anniversary SkyFire in front of an audience of approx. 100,000. Tap Kix were featured artists in the cabaret show, Frou Frou to Fruition, which was a finalist for the outstanding achievement in commercial dance, musicals, or physical theatre at the Australian Dance Awards, 2019. Other past performances have included Canberra Women in Business Awards, Stomp Rotary International Ball, the Queanbeyan Community Christmas Carols, as RAW artists, Step into the Limelight, JDRF Gala Ball and Olivia Lambert Foundation Fundraiser.
Tap Kix performances are aimed to entertain and excite audiences and always draw a crowd. Tap Kix love to play around with rhythm and beats and experiment with sound. Tap Kix enjoy the challenge of blending traditional tap with modern street tap and combining this with an artistic and entertaining twist.
