Performance Squad & Competitions
For those looking to take their dance training to a higher level, Bom Funk offers competition and performance teams in a number of styles including Hip Hop, Tap, Cabaret, Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Acro & Cheer.
Our Individual competitors stream and competition teams in our Performance Squad provide more intensive training for students to gain higher skill levels and gives them the chance to compete in local, state and national competitions. Individuals interested in competing as a soloist or duo may complete an expression of interest form. Students wishing to compete as part of Bom Funk’s Performance Squad and competition teams must audition. Auditions are usually held at the end of each year. A private audition can be arranged for students who have missed this audition.
At Bom Funk, we believe that students should be able to have the opportunity to learn and perfect their performance skills in an environment that best suits their learning style. This is why we have many Squad Crews & Troupe options for students. Competitions are not for everyone. Competition work involves intense training, hard repetition and self-discipline. For some students, competition training is not fun but for others, they thrive on the pressure to be pushed.
It is our goal to instil in our students a passion for performing rather than merely the desire to win awards. Bom Funk Squad dancers have many performance opportunities other than competitions. They perform their routines at numerous community events throughout the year including at Raiders games, Floriade, School Fetes, community festivals and the Queanbeyan Show, to name a few. Students may also progress into Bom Funk’s Professional Company, Kix Arts Productions - High Kix Cabaret & Tap Kix once they turn 18.
We believe the lessons learned through public performances are as valuable as the competition experience.
